SYMPTOMS When attempting to upgrade to 12.2.0.1 the preupgrade.jar execution fails with the below error [Loaded java.lang.NumberFormatException from /usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.8.0/jre/lib/rt.jar] For input string: "1" CHANGES CAUSE The cause was due to environment variable 'SQLPATH' or 'ORACLE_PATH' SOLUTION 1. Take a backup of the 'env' command output in a txt file. 2. Unset the environment variable 'SQLPATH' and ORACLE_PATH 3. Execute Preupgrade script from source home using the below command $Earlier_release_Oracle_home/jdk/bin/java -jar $New_release_Oracle_home/rdbms/admin/preupgrade.jar FILE TEXT DIR output_dir 4. If still the issue persists , 4a. Take the backup of glogin.sql 4b. Rremove below lines from the glogin.sql and execute the preupgrade.jar set time on ; and set timing on;
