SYMPTOMS
Database upgrade using autoupgrade fails with error:UPG-1400#UPGRADE FAILED

Symptom 1:

CAUSE
Cause 1:
Target oracle_home was not registered in central inventory . opatch lsinventory failed

Cause 2:
login.sql do not exist.



SOLUTION
Solution 1:
./runInstaller -silent -ignoreSysPrereqs -attachHome ORACLE_HOME="<Oracle_Home_Location>" ORACLE_HOME_NAME="<Name_Of _Oracle_Home>"

Re-run the autoupgrade

Solution 2:
1) Copy login.sql file which is created by autoupgrade under $ORACLE_BASE/cfgtoollogs/upgrade/auto/sql to directory which is defined by SQLPATH Variable
echo $SQLPATH -- to find sqlpath directory
2) re-run autoupgrade
